Latest government contract, valued over $1M, includes network voice, data, and Internet services
HERNDON, Va. – September 22, 2011
PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS: PAET) and its subsidiaries, announced today that it has been awarded a five-year contract by the U.S. Army to provide network services, including voice, data, and secure Internet access services to Fort Detrick located near Frederick, Maryland.
Fort Detrick serves as the home base for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (MRMC) and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), which researches and develops medical solutions to protect military service members from biological threats. PAETEC will serve its 7,800 military, federal, and contractor employees with fault-tolerant communication solutions.
The services to be provided by PAETEC include highly reliable voice services utilizing multiple network access points. As a result, end users on the base have redundant connections virtually eliminating network-caused interruptions on more than 10,000 phone lines. In addition PAETEC will provide private Ethernet data network services and secure Internet access services to allow military and civilian personnel located at the military facility to communicate with off-base institutions through a secure and fault-tolerant infrastructure.
“For years, our advanced, reliable, and cost effective solutions have been embraced by both military and civilian agencies within the federal government,” said Mike Magliato, PAETEC’s vice president of government markets. “Our focus on customized solutions, in-depth knowledge of the specific needs of the military, as well as understanding of government requirements, make us a strategic partner for IT leaders within the Federal government.
PAETEC and its subsidiaries have been providing civilian and DOD/Military network services to Federal government agencies for many years including contracts with the U.S. Army at Ft. Drum, N.Y.; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md; and the Army Corps of Engineers in Hampton Roads, Va. The contract was awarded to PAETEC by the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM), otherwise known as 9th Signal Battalion, which is a subordinate command of the Army Cyber Command based in Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.
