IT and Communications Provider Raises Funds to Help Grant Soccer Fan’s Wish
SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Cbeyond, Inc. (NASDAQ:CBEY, news, filings) (www.cbeyond.net), a leading provider of business IT and communications services to more than 59,000 small businesses across the country and 2,400 in San Diego County, today announced it will host “Kicking for Wishes,” a soccer tournament benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. The event, which is open to the public, will take place Friday, October 21, 2011, at the Sportsplex in Poway, California.
Proceeds from “Kicking for Wishes” will assist the Make-A-Wish Foundation in granting a wish for Kimberly, a local 16-year-old recently diagnosed with Synovial Cell Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. A passionate soccer fan, Kimberly’s wish is to attend a game featuring her favorite team, Manchester United, and meet her favorite player, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.
During the event, four teams composed of Cbeyond employees, friends and family will compete in two soccer games to determine a champion. Each team is competing to raise at least $1,000 in donations and sponsorships that will ultimately support Kimberly’s wish. Event attendees will also enjoy complementary food and drink while enjoying the games. Interested parties are invited to contribute to the Make-A-Wish Foundation during the tournament, or by visiting http://www.cbeyond.net/kick.
“Giving back to the communities in which our employees live and work is a core Cbeyond value, and we are honored to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to contribute to a great cause,” said Chris Duggan, vice president of Cbeyond’s San Diego office. “This event will motivate our employees to work even harder at raising donations, and we invite the San Diego business community to join us at the event and help a young soccer fan achieve her dream.”
In February 2011, Cbeyond sponsored the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s “Walk for Wishes” in San Diego, a five-mile walk through Sea World and Mission Bay that raised money to assist in granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
