El Paso, Texas, / Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua – August 15, 2011 – Transtelco today announced that it has completed an agreement with the Fairport, N.Y. based communications provider, PAETEC, to complete the remaining leg of its Texas fiber route between El-Paso and Temple and to purchase from PAETEC routes linking the rest of Central Texas.
Under the arrangement Transtelco obtains a fifty percent share of the PAETEC route to El Paso allowing it to significantly increase its fiber capacity and provide additional SONET ring diversity to its client base operating across the southern US and Northern Mexico
“Collaborating with PAETEC, a nationwide service provider built on a core value of providing exceptional customer service and reliability, provides Transtelco not only with additional further diversification within its cross border network but assures us that our goal of operating one of the most reliable networks on the U.S./Mexico border will ensue,” said Miguel Fernandez, CEO of Transtelco. “Additionally the significantly increased fiber capacity and the ability to now provide SONET diversity between locations within our network will allow us to better meet the growing needs of our cross border clients.”
Work to complete the final El-Paso – Temple route is underway and the Central Texas route is expected to be available for service in 3Q’2011.
“This agreement with Transtelco supports our overall strategy to continue to serve our customers through expanded fiber network,” said Arunas A. Chesonis, chairman and CEO of PAETEC. “Creating a joint venture with a well established fiber operator like Transtelco allows us to not only expand our extensive U.S. fiber network, but also presents additional services not before available to our Texas customers.””
In accordance with the project build-out plan, the El Paso – Temple – Dallas route is expected to be open for service to end customers by Q1 2012.
