Flexibility Makes State-of-the-Art Ethernet Platform the Perfect Solution to Enable Operator to Redefine Its Network
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug 30, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) —
ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Moundville Telephone Company, a leading independent service provider serving West-Central Alabama, has selected ADTRAN’s extensive broadband portfolio including the flagship Total Access(R) 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP), to enhance its triple-play and high-speed Internet access service delivery. This will enable Moundville to expand the range, reach and performance of a variety of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services and upgrade existing DSL services. In addition, the service provider will also utilize the ADTRAN solution for mobile backhaul applications, enabling the transition to Ethernet transport.
Moundville Telephone Company is a progressive independent service provider in its seventh year of FTTH deployments. The company, approved by the FTTH Council as a certified FTTH operator, deploys high-speed Internet broadband service using ATM-based DSL. This existing broadband network is being transformed from ATM to IP/Ethernet.
ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 was selected for deployment in the Moundville network based on its flexibility to support a variety of services from a single system and the additional benefits offered when transitioning embedded networks from legacy to next-generation services. In addition, the pseudowire aggregation feature of the Total Access 5000 makes it ideal for mobile backhaul applications. These benefits, when combined with capacity and scalability, ensure that Moundville Telephone can quickly and easily address the changing needs of its customer base for years to come.
“The Total Access 5000 offers outstanding efficiency and scalability,” said Larry Taylor, general manager, Moundville Telephone Company. “As one of the most flexible platforms on the market, we will be able to quickly and continuously redefine our access architecture to meet the demands of our customers for a wide variety of applications such as FTTH, broadband and mobile backhaul.”
“Moundville Telephone has tapped into the many benefits the Total Access 5000 offers as a true multi-service platform,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “The Total Access 5000 has quickly become the leading choice for FTTH deployments because it allows operators to take advantage of faster ROI, lower TCO and greater flexibility as the network continues to evolve.”
