Modell’s Sporting Goods Teams with MegaPath to Deliver State of the Art Connectivity and VPN Services to More than 150 Retail Locations

Retailer to Add North America’s Largest Private MPLS Network to Support Voice and Data Traffic For All of its Locations

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2011MegaPath Inc., one of the leading providers of managed data, voice, and security services in North America, today announced that Modell’s Sporting Goods, America’s oldest and largest family-owned and operated sporting goods equipment, footwear and active apparel retailer, is leveraging MegaPath’s connectivity and VPN services. The retailer is also extending the relationship by migrating to MegaPath’s private MPLS network to support voice over IP (VoIP) communications and other performance-critical applications in its more than 150 locations throughout the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

“As our company continues to grow, it is essential for our retail stores to stay connected to headquarters so we can make near real-time decisions to improve our business,” said Tony Roman, Director of Network Infrastructure, Modell’s Sporting Goods. “Based on our success with MegaPath’s cost-effective and secure solutions over the past six years, we are excited to further enhance our productivity with its nationwide MPLS network.”

MegaPath’s connectivity and VPN services enable Modell’s retail locations to securely communicate with the company’s headquarters in New York City. This real-time connection allows for more accurate inventory management, financial reporting and improved customer service. In addition, MegaPath’s solutions support Modell’s payment card industry (PCI) compliance initiatives by delivering security for all point-of-sale (POS) transactions, as well as providing immediate intrusion detection and prevention reporting.

“The MegaPath team takes pride in delivering services that meet our customers’ needs, particularly as their businesses evolve to meet customer and industry demands,” said Dan Foster, President of Business Markets, MegaPath. “Modell’s decision to implement our national private MPLS network is the logical next step for the company and we are excited to be a part of that growth.”
