Kathleen Quinn Abernathy of Frontier Communications Named one of FierceTelecom’s 2011 “Women in Wireline”

STAMFORD, Conn., August 10, 2011– For the second year, a member of Frontier Communications’ (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) senior leadership team has been named one of FierceTelecom’s annual “Women in Wireline.” Frontier Communications’ Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer Kathleen Quinn Abernathy 2011 selection follows Chairman and CEO Maggie Wilderotter’s appearance on the debut list in 2010.

This annual list honors women in the wireline segment of the communications industry for their ability to develop innovative services, drive technology innovation, and conduct complex integrations.  Editors base their selections on interactions with those in the industry, observations and reader input.  In the article regarding Ms. Abernathy, Sean Buckley, Senior Editor of FierceTelecom, notes “It’s clear that Abernathy has the experience to tackle challenging regulatory issues in Washington, D.C. and on a state level at a large service provider like Frontier Communications.”

Abernathy has been in a leadership role at Frontier since 2006, first as a member of the Board of Directors before stepping from the Board to join the company in March of 2010 as Chief Legal Officer and Executive Vice President for Regulatory Affairs.  In this position, she is a principal advisor to the Board on legal and corporate governance matters.  Before Frontier, Ms. Abernathy was a Partner at two major Washington, D.C. law firms. She served as a Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission from 2001 to 2005 and before that served in senior legal positions at several communications providers.  Her achievements encompass academia, corporate and private practice.
