INTEGRA TELECOM SELECTS PALO ALTO NETWORKS AS PLATFORM FOR DELIVERY OF NEXT-GENERATION CLOUD FIREWALL SERVICES

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 25, 2011 – Integra Telecom Inc., a provider of business grade networking, communications, and cloud solutions, has selected Palo Alto Networks and its enterprise-class firewall as the platform for Integra’s planned Cloud Firewall Service product offering.

“Network attacks are growing at an alarming rate so security is a top priority for businesses moving to the cloud. We plan to provide all of our customers with the highest security possible through our partnership with industry-leading Palo Alto Networks,” said Craig Heidgerken, vice president of engineering at Integra Telecom.

Through Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls, Integra will rollout Cloud Firewall Services complete with application visibility and control, URL filtering, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS), anti-virus, anti-spyware and file/data content filtering.

Integra will incorporate the firewall service as a core infrastructure component throughout its fiber network, making Palo Alto Networks’ enterprise-class network security protection available to customers of all sizes.

“We continue to see more and more of our customers – small, mid-sized, and enterprise – moving their security to the cloud,” said Steve Zimba, chief marketing officer at Integra. “As their need to support remote workers grows, and as their IT infrastructure and applications move to the cloud, it’s imperative we offer world-class platforms to keep their operations running smoothly and securely.”

Palo Alto Networks’ next-generation firewalls enable enterprises to identify and control applications and content—not just ports, IP addresses, and packets like traditional firewalls. By providing more granular control and in-depth protection down to the level of individual applications, enterprise organizations are able to detect more sophisticated current and emerging cyber threats targeting their critical business systems.

“Through this partnership, Integra can uniquely provide its business customers with protection from our award-winning PA-5000 Series Firewalls,” said Punit Minocha, vice president of business and corporate development at Palo Alto Networks. “Integra is making the industry’s most advanced enterprise network security technology available to customers of all sizes.”

Integra will roll out additional information on their Cloud Security Services product and overall strategy at IT EXPO in September.
