Global hosted services provider deploys Net-Net session border controllers for launch of white-label SIP trunking services in EMEA and North America
BEDFORD, MA, JULY 11, 2011 — Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session delivery network solutions, today announced that SIP Communications PLC (SIPCOM) is deploying Acme Packet’s Net-Net® session border controllers (SBCs) for its worldwide launch of hosted Microsoft Lync services. Acme Packet, exhibiting at this week’s Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011, is enabling secure interconnect via SIP trunks between SIPCOM’s network and an extended network of tier 1 service providers. The SBCs add flexibility, reduce capital expenditures and extend service reach for the unified communications (UC) services offered by SIPCOM’s customers.
“The technology solutions we deploy in our network allow our customers and partners to overcome capex and time-to-market challenges,” said Daniel Allen, CEO of SIPCOM. “By utilizing the Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs in our network rather than their own, our customers and partners achieve these goals while enjoying the benefits of new revenue streams from hosted services such as those based on Microsoft Lync.”
A leading global wholesaler of hosted services since 2006, SIPCOM has customers in over forty countries, offering a wide range of hosted white-label services via SIP trunks to tier 1 and hosted service providers, network and system integrators and other distributors of next-generation hosted services. By deploying Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs, SIPCOM is helping its service provider customers accelerate time-to-market for next-generation hosted voice, data and unified communications services based on Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Acme Packet’s SBCs also enable SIPCOM to be transport-agnostic. Through peering agreements with many of the world’s leading service providers, SIPCOM’s customers can license UC sessions directly from SIPCOM while retaining the flexibility of partnering with preferred carriers for transport of service traffic.
“SIPCOM is at the vanguard of deploying hosted UC services on a global scale,” said Seamus Hourihan, senior vice president of marketing and product management. “Their innovative service model extends their global reach across multiple continents, creating new revenue opportunities for SIPCOM and their service provider customers.”
