Technology Implementation Will Drive Expansion and Productivity
MALAYSIA – 19 July 2011 – Cisco and the QI Group of Companies, an e-commerce based conglomerate in Malaysia, today announced that Borderless Networks solutions by Cisco will be implemented at QI Tower, the group’s operational headquarters in Petaling Jaya. These solutions aim to improve productivity and security while the network solutions will create a strong foundation to support future user growth, information and communications technology projects, as well as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and teleconferencing.
The QI Group uses the network as a platform for business across industries that include telecommunications, lifestyle and leisure, luxury and collectibles, training and conference management, property development, and a global retail and direct sales business.
“Our investment in technology is in line with our plans to expand our business operations in Malaysia, even more so as our operational headquarters is based here. The QI Group has been expanding regionally and we believe that Cisco’s solutions play an important role in our growth, transforming the way we work and setting a foundation that caters to our ongoing expansion needs. Through these new technologies, we expect to save 20-30 percent on our overall operational costs,” said Malick Aboobakar, Chief Information Officer of the QI Group.
With the QI Group’s mobile work culture, Cisco’s Borderless Network Architecture was a perfect fit, with a single manageable structure that will reduce operational complexity and provide connectivity to anyone in the organisation, on any device and at any location with a highly secure, reliable, and seamless experience. Implemented through Packet Systems, a Cisco Gold Certified Partner, the new network will result in faster decision making and access to critical information while reducing customer response times and operating costs.
“The future is mobile – and businesses that embrace the progression towards a connected workforce will capitalize on these trends – much like the QI Group has done. With Borderless Networks and a highly secure connection, the QI Group are able to future-proof their expansion as they develop new capabilities and business ventures that take advantage of next-generation technologies,” said Anne Abraham, Managing Director of Cisco in Malaysia.
Acknowledging the collective benefits of these solutions, the QI Group plans to further embed technology into the heart of their operations. Future consideration includes videoconferencing and security solutions, advancing collaboration to the next level while providing increased security for data exchanged by a growing mobile workforce.
