SSE Telecoms partners with TelecityGroup for new Manchester 3 facility

Point of Presence to ensure premium outsourcing options for burgeoning Manchester business community

Leading network solutions and connectivity provider SSE Telecoms is today announcing they will have a presence at TelecityGroup’s new state-of-the-art Manchester 3 data centre from launch. This will give customers locating infrastructure in the new facility access to a wide range of connectivity and peering options across the UK via SSE Telecoms’ extensive network.

SSE Telecoms identified Manchester as a key location for network expansion due to the city’s rapid growth as one of the UK’s primary business hubs and its North-West location. These combined elements align perfectly with their ability to offer single and diverse layer 1 and 2 network solutions to Scotland, to London, around the UK and onwards to international locations.

Neil Hutchings, Managing Director at SSE Telecoms, comments: “Manchester is seeing an influx of corporate and content-rich media companies, resulting in a surge in data traffic which requires suitable bandwidth. TelecityGroup recognised the requirement for enterprise- grade data centre capacity in Manchester to serve these customers, and it was a natural decision for SSE Telecoms to extend our network into the facility from launch. We expect a lot of companies to utilise TelecityGroup’s expertise in its new Manchester facility, and with this partnership we can provide them with an added range of network services.”

TelecityGroup’s new Manchester 3 facility – opening later in 2011 – will meet the latent demand for premium, centrally located and highly connected data centre space in central Manchester, offering companies the optimum environment to locate their telecoms, internet and IT infrastructure. SSE Telecoms’ partnership with TelecityGroup will enable it to provide high-bandwidth and dark fibre services for customers.

Adriaan Oosthoek, Country Manager UK & Ireland, TelecityGroup comments: “With a network encompassing over 122 Points of Presence (PoPs) across the UK, the presence of SSE Telecoms in our new Manchester facility, along with other premium carriers and network providers, will mean we can provide exceptional connectivity options for our customers from launch. The demand for premium, enterprise-grade outsourced IT services in Manchester is clear; our partnership with SSE Telecoms will enable Manchester’s dynamic business community to achieve greater efficiencies and cost-savings through the effective hosting, management and day-to-day running of their IT.”
