ATLANTA, June 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — tw telecom (NASDAQ:TWTCNews), a leading provider of managed services, including Business Ethernet, converged and IP VPN solutions for enterprises in Georgia, throughout the U.S. and globally, today announced that healthcare education provider Medtech College has selected the company to provide advanced converged voice, data and Internet services to its 10 campuses located in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.  This agreement expands the services that tw telecom is currently providing to Medtech.

“During the past year, we have experienced tremendous growth that has strained our network infrastructure,” said George Hantzios, Vice President of Information Services at Medtech. “We knew we needed to re-evaluate our networked infrastructure. Partnering with Clover Communications Management, a full service telecommunications agency, we evaluated a number of providers and tw telecom’s highly reliable services, combined with its customer-focused mindset, best met our needs.”

As part of the multi-year agreement, tw telecom designed a state-of-the-art IP VPN network that enables all 10 Medtech campuses to communicate with each other over a highly reliable, secure private network. tw telecom also created a Dedicated Business Ethernet connection between Medtech’s full-service, Tier IV-compliant data center hosted by Data Cave in Columbus, Ind., and its backup facility in Georgia.

“Medtech has quickly established a reputation as a leading post-secondary IT and healthcare education provider that creates an extraordinary student experience,” said Joel Fye, vice president and general manager for tw telecom in Atlanta. “We’re pleased that tw telecom services will allow Medtech to continue to offer the innovative and sophisticated learning solutions to its students that will allow them to excel as in-demand healthcare professionals.”

tw telecom connects more commercial buildings to its fiber network than any other competitive communications provider.  In fact, it has the third highest market share of retail Business Ethernet ports in service. With its own metro fiber networks and one of the ten most interconnected IP backbones in the world, tw telecom has the national capability, robust product portfolio and national/local customer care teams to support mission critical enterprise applications and to deliver the industry’s most sought after customer experience.
