Powergate facility to house iland’s vCloud ‘virtual data centre’ service
iland, the global cloud infrastructure provider, has chosen TelecityGroup, Europe’s leading provider of premium network independent data centres, to launch its latest cloud offering in Europe. iland will use TelecityGroup’s state-of-the-art Powergate facility in London to launch its iland vCloud services, a VMware vCloud Powered solution, and increase its physical presence to meet the demand for high-availability cloud computing infrastructure services in the region.
iland provides a range of infrastructure services that help enterprise organisations ensure on-demand IT is delivered cost-effectively and aligned with business objectives. With the global market for Infrastructure-as-a-Service forecast to grow significantly, iland is investing in the diversity of its data centre facilities to capitalise this demand, with a specific focus on Europe. To support the launch of its vCloud service in Europe, which delivers an entire virtual data centre to its enterprise customers, iland chose TelecityGroup’s Powergate facility due to the premium levels of power, cooling and connectivity options necessary to ensure low-latency and maximum availability for the service.
Johnny Carpenter, iland’s Director of sales for iland Europe comments: “We expect strong demand for our highly anticipated vCloud across Europe, as it enables customers to have enterprise grade infrastructure in the form of a virtual data centre with complete flexibility in terms of billing and capacity models. To deliver this service effectively, working with TelecityGroup was the natural choice. We wanted a reputable partner we can grow with, and the scalability available at Powergate means we will increase our presence as our European customer base continues to grow. Additionally, the diverse peering and quantity of carriers located in the facility are crucial to provide the low-latency connectivity we require.”
The quality of TelecityGroup’s infrastructure and operations, as reflected by its certifications to leading international standards, was also a crucial consideration in iland’s expansion in Powergate. For iland’s customers and partners that provide Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions to the healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail and IT sectors, compliance is fundamental for their underlying infrastructure. Powergate’s certification to quality management standards – including ISO 27001:2005 for information security management, ISO 9001:2008 for quality management and ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management – provides iLand’s customers with necessary assurance on the premium nature of the underlying infrastructure.
Adriaan Oosthoek, Country Manager, TelecityGroup UK & Ireland, commented: “It is clear that enterprise demand for high-quality cloud infrastructure is constantly growing in Europe. Powergate has become a hub for providers of cloud and infrastructure services, due to its premium levels of connectivity, power, security and resilience which provide the ideal environment for the cloud to be housed. We’re looking forward to working with iland and enabling the expansion of its infrastructure services across Europe.”
