LOUISVILLE, Colo. – May 24, 2011– Zayo Group, a provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and network-neutral colocation services, announces it has joined the Dark Fiber Community, an online resource for network operators that build efficient broadband networks and for the vendors that support them.
The Dark Fiber Communityis an educational platform that connects communications equipment providers, dark fiber manufacturers, data center builders, tower builders, and financing sources. The community addresses what dark fiber equipment to use, who can build it, and who can manage it.
“Joining the Dark Fiber Community is a natural move for Zayo, following the 2010 launch of Zayo Fiber Solutions, a business focused on dark fiber services.” states Matt Erickson, President of Zayo Fiber Solutions. “We look forward to working with Allied Fiber and leveraging the community to enable customers with the long-term and scalable bandwidth infrastructure afforded by dark fiber.
With members coming from various industries, such as financing, industry associations, infrastructure engineers, and equipment providers, all seeking to benefit from dark fiber, the Dark Fiber Community now has over 85 members. The community’s success is due in part to industry data and information being freely accessible to all.
“With our online community growing quickly, we are excited to have Zayo join the Dark Fiber community,” explains Allied Fiber’s CEO, Hunter Newby. “We are pleased at the interest level in our online resource as an open forum for discussion, information sharing and industry advancement. Zayo will bring thought leadership in dark fiber to this community through the company’s experience in delivering bandwidth infrastructure.”
