Richmond (May 17, 2011) – QTS (Quality Technology Services), one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing providers of data centers and managed services, today announced that it has been chosen by Planned Systems International (PSI), a leading information technology services provider to the U.S. government, for colocation space to house its Department of Defense (DOD) client’s IT environment. Terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.
The new contract offers a secure hosting environment compliant with President Barack Obama’s Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative, which aims to reduce energy consumption and increase the overall IT security posture of the federal government.
“QTS demonstrated tremendous flexibility and creativity in providing a customized data center solution that was not only compliant, but also provided the utmost in security that our mutual government client required,” said John Dorman, chief technology officer – Planned Systems International. “We are very happy with our partnership with QTS and our combined capability for delivering high value data center and cloud solutions to our customers.”
QTS is one of the few U.S. data center operators who can meet the security and compliance requirements of the federal government, and was chosen because it can provide PSI and the DOD with secure, reliable colocation space as well as a security configuration designed for processing classified and unclassified data. QTS’ products and solutions will ensure the federal government receives high levels of mission assurance and service reliability, which are key to protecting both the government and citizen data that will be housed within the QTS facility.
“Given the high-security data center and office space solutions that are available on our Richmond campus, QTS was able to quickly create a private suite where PSI can process their most sensitive data,” said Scott Shinberg, executive vice president of federal systems -QTS. “By designing a facility that offers not only high-quality raised floor space, but also secure office space, QTS offers a unique combination of solutions on a scale that highly-selective clients are not able to find elsewhere.”
