London, 18 April 2010 – Interoute Communications Ltd, owner operator of Europe’s largest next-generation network, today announced that demand for its Unified ICT enterprise services and its pan European cloud service delivery network led it to its first full year as a net profitable company. Interoute’s top line revenue grew to €295m, a rise of 10% over 2009, while EBITDA grew 46% to €58m. Now Interoute plans to use the cash it is generating to drive more growth through acquisitions, a strategy it quickly put into effect with the acquisition of a managed video conferencing company in the first few months of 2011.
The launch of its Unified ICT offering in 2010 has attracted a growing list of international enterprises looking for more flexibility from their telecoms and computing infrastructure. At the same time, Interoute expanded the range of services it offers International service providers and extended its network into Russia, Turkey and Africa. As a result, Interoute was awarded major outsourcing projects to design, build and manage international networks.
Commenting on the results, Gareth Williams, Interoute CEO, said, “Today, we are more a technology company than a traditional Telco, which has strongly influenced the development of our “as a service approach.” 2010 was a pivotal year for us, as more and more International enterprises came to us looking for ways to centralise and simplify their ICT infrastructure in order to gain performance and efficiency benefits. The ownership of Europe’s largest cloud service delivery network gives us a huge advantage in supporting organisations that are looking to meet these aims. And, by focusing on improving network performance, increasing flexibility and driving cost efficiencies into the core of our computing and ICT services, we are providing organisations with the competitive edge they need.”
Interoute’s Unified ICT portfolio comprises computing, connectivity and communications. Its Unified Connectivity offering has proven attractive to organisations looking for a scalable, secure and unconstrained connectivity platform on which they can build their voice, computing and data services. One example is the European Space Agency, which chose Interoute to help the ESA create an internal content distribution network to connect its Earth Observation Payload Data Systems across 14 sites in Europe and Canada.
Interoute’s pan-European network links to 100 cities in 29 countries covering the European Union, from London to Warsaw, Stockholm to Sicily and beyond into the emerging economies of South-eastern Europe and Africa. The Company’s 8 data centres and 32 collocation facilities, integrated into Europe’s largest network, make Interoute the clear choice to help meet the rising demand for capacity fuelled by video and rich content. Its acquisition of KPN’s 3,600 km dark fibre network in Germany added further diversity to this high capacity network.
Interoute is the owner/operator of Europe’s most advanced and densely connected voice and data network, encompassing over 60,000 km of lit fibre, 8 Data Centres, 32 purpose-built collocation centres and on-net to another 150 partner Data Centres across the European footprint. Interoute’s full-service next generation network serves international enterprises from a broad range of sectors including aerospace, automotive, finance, pharmaceutical and retail, plus every major European incumbent, as well as the major operators of North America, East and South Asia, governments, universities and research agencies. These organisations find Interoute the ideal partner for hosting content, providing wholesale bandwidth and transit services, corporate connectivity or creating new services. With established operations throughout mainland Europe, in North America and Dubai, Interoute also owns and operates dense city networks throughout Europe’s major business centres. Providing service and support in 15 European languages, Interoute is a key part of Europe’s Digital Supply Chain. The network is future-proofed, endowed with Europe’s largest fibre and duct reserve, and is a leader in the deployment of advanced network technologies, from the ground to the Cloud. www.interoute.com
