FiberLight Provides High-Speed Internet Services to National Precast Concrete Manufacturer

Smith-Midland Corporation Connects Midland, Virginia Headquarters To FiberLight Optical Network

Herndon, VAFiberLight, LLC, one of the nation’s leading providers of mission critical, high performance fiber optic networks, announced today that it is providing high-speed dedicated Internet access over FiberLight’s Virginia fiber network to Smith-Midland Corporation, one of the largest pre-cast concrete manufacturers in the U.S.

“Access to FiberLight’s redundant fiber optic backbone was only a few hundred feet from Smith-Midland’s corporate office location in Midland, Virginia, so it was a rapid process to build the fiber connection from our backbone into their facility and provide a high-speed link directly to our Internet POP,” said FiberLight Executive VP of Operations Judd Carothers.

FiberLight’s new Internet initiative, to build a better onramp to the public Internet dedicated solely for use by enterprise and government customers, is fueling continued growth in the company. The Juniper platform, purpose built for performance, combined with new fiber built to the highest networking specifications, is changing the conversation about how dedicated Internet should be delivered.

“Accessibility to high-capacity transport for the purposes of accessing the broader market and key applications over the Internet, as well as allowing remote employees better VPN access back to our headquarters was not available before FiberLight built the new network,” said Guy Schuch, Chief Technology Officer at Smith-Midland Corporation.

“Prior to FiberLight’s construction of the fiber network, choices for reliable high-capacity bandwidth and secure IP in Midland were nonexistent. When we heard that FiberLight was building a new all-fiber network in the area, we welcomed the opportunity to participate, and we have not been disappointed,” said Guy Schuch, Chief Technology Officer at Smith-Midland Corporation.
