Eastex Telephone Cooperative Selects ADTRAN Total Access 5000 for Broadband Deployment

One of Largest Rural Broadband Deployments in Texas will Add More Than 200 Remote Locations
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Apr 06, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) —

ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Eastex Telephone Cooperative, a residential and business service provider serving 11 counties in Eastern Texas, has selected ADTRAN’s Total Access(R) 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) to deliver broadband services throughout its customer base of more than 30,000 subscribers. This deployment is one of the largest announced in Texas this year and will add over 200 remote locations to the Eastex network.

“ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 will allow Eastex to meet subscribers’ demand for a wide variety of services for years to come,” said Rusty Dorman, assistant manager, Eastex Telephone Cooperative, Inc. “Eastex began deploying the Total Access 5000 several years ago. We have been very impressed with its reliability and flexibility. It was a perfect selection for this major expansion project.”

Eastex selected the Total Access 5000 because it is proven as a delivery system for a variety of services. This Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform efficiently enables service providers to deploy many carrier-class services from a common product. An all-Ethernet core provides scalability to meet any access service demand. The Total Access 5000 is the ideal solution, gracefully handling the transition to next-generation services and providing a path toward a converged network.

“Broadband services are a must and the Total Access 5000 is a perfect delivery platform,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “The Total Access 5000 will allow service providers, like Eastex, to have the capacity they need for both now as well as the future. This platform provides them with a path for continued growth through the ability to support the bandwidth-intensive services of tomorrow.”
