BroadSoft Announces Xtended Incubator Program for 2011

Second Annual program is changing the way unified communications applications are developed and delivered to users

GAITHERSBURG, MD, April 27, 2011 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:BSFT, news, filings), the leading global provider of software that enables fixed-line, mobile and cable service providers to deliver real-time communications over their IP networks, today announced its Xtended Incubator Program for 2011 – a global initiative that is designed to accelerate the development of in-demand voice and video-enabled communications applications for businesses and consumers by providing key funding, feedback and support to application developers.

BroadSoft believes the Xtended Incubator Program enables global service providers to differentiate and more quickly monetize their communications offerings by leveraging BroadSoft’s community of 4,500 developers and open APIs in order to integrate voice and video calling services with other web-based services. The developers selected for the 2010 Program successfully introduced several voice and video-enabled apps for business process integration, collaboration, CRM and mobility.

“In the first year of the Xtended Incubator Program, our community of 4,500 voice and web developers experienced greater than expected demand for their applications from end-users,” said Shirish Andhare, VP of Emerging Markets at BroadSoft. “Based upon the 2010 Program, we believe that continuing to stimulate and fund developers to build great applications that our customers take to market will lead to even greater success for the 2011 Program.”

Developers from across the globe are invited to submit their credentials and capabilities, for consideration by BroadSoft no later than May 15, 2011. Selected developers will be notified after May 27, 2001 and will receive immediate seed funding to build some of the most sought-after communications applications, as identified by BroadSoft through extensive collaboration with its global telecommunications service provider customers. The selected developers will participate in the opportunity to earn ongoing revenues from the BroadSoft Xtended Marketplace.

According to Information Week Analytics 2010 Unified Communications survey, enterprises want integration of their communication services with their business process software. The applications introduced by last year’s developers address this issue directly by integrating BroadSoft’s IP communications applications with everyday enterprise software and processes. Outlined below are more details about some of the applications that were developed in 2010 under the Xtended Incubator Program:

  • InGenius Connector for Salesforce – enables enterprise users to search, dial and view incoming callers to accelerate, simplify, and streamline their workflows leveraging the power of their desktop and the Salesforce.com hosted CRM system.
  • Mobiso Speech Assistant – a speech enabled dialer that allows users to reach their employees quickly by simply using the power of their voice. This application enables a “numberless enterprise,” allowing employees to be increasingly mobile and still reachable all while maintaining personal phone number privacy.
  • RemoteOffice for iPhone (developed by Kim Winther) – allows a user to leverage their mobile phone as an extension of their enterprise phone system with the power and identity of their enterprise desk phone on the go.
  • Mondago’s Go Integrator – provides out of the box BroadSoft integration with over a dozen small and medium business PIM and CRM packages such as ACT!, GoldMine, Microsoft Access, Lotus Notes, NetSuite, and Sage.
  • FonGenie web-based IVR service – acts as a web-enhanced virtual receptionist and sales representative for small businesses handling all incoming calls and allowing businesses the opportunity to up-sell products and services while viewing advanced, real-time analytics on caller behavior.

According to Dale Gantous, CEO of InGenius, “We have received favorable and growing response to our InGenius Connector for Salesforce from the BroadSoft customer community through this program. The Xtended Incubator Program has enabled us to further scale our business using an innovative funding, distribution and revenue model.”

Leslie Ferry, VP, Marketing at BroadSoft concludes, “We believe our Xtended Incubator Program is living up to its objective to catalyze new, efficient communication options through integration with business and consumer applications. We were extremely pleased by the overwhelming success in 2010 of this program and look forward to working with individual developers and companies again this year.”
