“Top 40” recognizes companies for contributions to Georgia technology community

ATLANTA (March 17, 2011) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, today announced Internap as one of its Top 40 Innovative Technology Companies in Georgia for the second year in a row. TAG will recognize this prestigious group at the 2011 Georgia Technology Summit (GTS) on March 23, 2011, at the Cobb Galleria.

TAG’S Top 40 Awards recognize Georgia-based companies for their innovation, financial impact, and their efforts at spreading awareness of Georgia’s technology initiatives throughout the U.S. and globally.

“Each of the 40 companies we are recognizing have made a significant impact on how we live and do business through their technology innovation,” said Tino Mantella, president & CEO of TAG. “We applaud each of these companies for their success and contribution to making Georgia a leading state for technology education, research and business. At TAG we are committed to supporting companies like these and we fully expect that, with their ongoing leadership and innovation, Georgia’s technology community continue to grow and be top in class in the U.S. and beyond.”

“Each year it becomes harder to choose our Top 40 companies because of the rapidly increasing number of high-quality technology businesses in our state,” said Dennis Zakas, a partner and founder of Zakas & Leonard, LLP and chairperson of the Top 40 Selection Committee.  “This year’s Top 40 companies are sterling examples of the technology innovation in Georgia’s DNA. We are proud to recognize this year’s winners and wish them continued success.”

Internap, a leading provider of IT infrastructure services, has a history of innovation, beginning with its patentedManaged Internet Route Optimizer™ (MIRO) technology, which ensures that Internet traffic is routed over the best path 100% of the time. In 2010, Internap continued to expand its portfolio of connectivity services through the launch of Accelerated IP (XIP™), the first web traffic accelerator to be delivered as a service, with the ability to improve application delivery speed by up to 4x. Internap also entered the fast-growing cloud market earlier this year with XIPCloud™ Storage, a new public cloud service providing high-performance, redundant online storage for file backup and archiving that leverages the company’s MIRO technology – enabling faster file download and data retrieval.

Internap has been investing to build out a network of geographically distributed, premium data centers, which serve as the foundation for its colocation, managed hosting and cloud services. As such, the company has also introduced innovations in data center design and infrastructure, including high-density power solutions and green initiatives for cost efficiency and scalability.

“Internap takes great pride in developing and delivering innovative IT infrastructure services for enterprises,” said Paul Carmody, senior vice president, product management and business development, of Internap. “We are honored to be recognized for our contributions toward strengthening Georgia’s technology leadership, and we are committed to supporting the state’s digital economy by providing services that improve the online experience for leading local businesses and their end-users around the globe.”

The Georgia Technology Summit is TAG’s flagship event that brings together C-level executives, entrepreneurs, technology professionals and academia to celebrate and recognize Georgia’s technology community. This year’s theme, Innovation Next Generation, will address how organizations are leveraging social networking to reach buyers and how they are incorporating social media tools in the workplace.
