WESTFIELD, N.Y. (March 10, 2011) – FairPoint Communications today announced that Michael L. Harrington, a telecom veteran with more than 30 years of experience, has joined the company as senior director of engineering. Harrington is responsible for all engineering operations in FairPoint’s Telecom Group, which is comprised of local exchange companies across the country, as well as strategic planning for new revenue opportunities.
Harrington joined the company from DFT Communications Corporation where he had served as a corporate officer and vice president of network since 2008. Before that Harrington spent 10 years with FairPoint Communications where he was vice president of network planning in the Westfield, N.Y. office. He also served as corporate officer and vice president of operations at Chautauqua and Erie Telephone Corporation.

Harrington earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Pennsylvania State University in Erie, graduating with highest distinction, and an Associate of Science degree in electrical engineering from New York’s Jamestown Community College. He is based in the Westfield, N.Y. office.
