Florham Park, N.J. – Global Crossing (NASDAQ: GLBC), a leading IP solutions provider, has been selected to provide its Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) Trunking solution to support Microsoft Technology Centers (MTC) throughout the United States. These centers show enterprise customers how feature-rich unified communications (UC) services can benefit their businesses. SIP Trunking is the enabling technology that network providers rely on when establishing a broad range of UC tools, such as “presence” solutions. As a result of this affiliation, Global Crossing has become an MTC Alliance Service Partner.
MTCs provide a collaborative environment that offers access to innovative technologies and world-class expertise, enabling businesses to envision, design and deploy unified communications solutions that meet their specific needs.
“This is a great opportunity for Global Crossing to leverage our award-winning SIP Trunking solutions to help businesses implement unified communications services connected to Microsoft® LyncTM Server 2010,” said Neil Barua, managing director for North America at Global Crossing. “As one of a handful of companies qualified to provide these services to Microsoft, we are excited to be part of their technology centers.”
As an MTC Alliance Partner, Global Crossing will provide SIP Trunking service and access for MTC facilities for customer engagements and Voice over IP demos, as well as take advantage of Microsoft’s on-site technical support for Lync Server 2010 demos for all enterprise customers who visit the MTCs.
“Partnering with Global Crossing has allowed the U.S. MTCs to showcase the flexibility of our Lync Server 2010 voice platform with SIP Trunking, enabling external collaboration and reducing third-party conferencing costs,” said Andrew Page, technical architect at the Chicago MTC.
MTCs in North America are located in Atlanta, Ga.; Boston, Mass.; Chicago, Ill.; Dallas, Texas; Detroit, Mich.; Irvine, Calif.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Reston, Va., and in Silicon Valley, California
Global Crossing is among a select group of companies worldwide that is qualified to provide SIP Trunking for Lync Server 2010. The company is working with beta customers on SIP Trunking implementations with Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Formerly known as Office Communications Server 2007 Release 2 (R2), Lync Server 2010 is the next generation of Microsoft Corporation’s UC server and software that enables businesses to connect in new ways anytime, anywhere.
Global Crossing’s SIP Trunking solutions offer cost savings by eliminating the deployment and management of additional communications equipment. This simplified infrastructure increases productivity through easier-to-use communications tools and maximized bandwidth utilization in a converged environment.
