Cable&Wireless Worldwide announces directorate change

Cable&Wireless Worldwide announces that Tim Weller, Chief Financial Officer, will be leaving the company in July 2011.

After playing a key role in establishing Cable&Wireless Worldwide as an independent listed company following its demerger in March 2010, Tim and the Board have agreed that he will leave the Company on the date of the Annual General Meeting on 21 July, 2011. Tim is looking at this juncture to pursue new challenges.

Subject to a full external benchmarking process, the Board intends to promote Ian Gibson to Chief Financial Officer of Cable&Wireless Worldwide and invite him to join the Board at Tim’s departure. Ian has been with the company for nearly 16 years and has been Deputy Chief Financial officer over the last ten months. Ian brings a wealth of telecommunications sector and business experience.

Tim and Ian work closely together and will ensure an orderly handover and smooth transition.

Jim Marsh, Chief Executive Officer said: “I would like to thank Tim for his contribution to establishing the company as an independent plc and I wish him well for the future”.

As stated in the 17 February, 2011 Interim Management Statement, the business continues to trade in the current year in line with expectations.
