Birch Communications celebrates its 15th year providing superior service to small- and medium-sized businesses
Atlanta, GA – Mar. 14, 2011– Birch Communications, a leading IP-based telecom and managed services provider to small-and medium-sized businesses, celebrates its 15-year anniversary of the founding of the company.
The company, founded in 1996, has reached its 15th year of providing managed communications and information technology services. Birch Communications growth continues, serving over 1,000 metropolitan markets in 38 states across the U.S. “Our goal 15 years ago was to take advantage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that opened the local exchange market to competition,” says R. Kirby Godsey, Chairman of Birch Communications. “We believed we truly could serve small-and medium-sized businesses better than the large phone company.”
Birch had great success in achieving its initial objective which was to provide telephone service to customers in nine southeastern states. Over the past 15 years, Birch built on that initial success by completing 11 acquisitions which enabled the company to expand its service area further to cover metropolitan markets in 38 states. Over this same time period Birch broadened its product offerings to include bundled local, long distance and high speed data, T1, PRI, bonded T1, e-mail, voicemail, web hosting, mobile voice, mobile data, and many other services. Birch has also aggressively expanded the Birch IP-Network; its own facilities-based private IP-Network.
During the past five years Birch has completed 11 acquisitions and has been ranked in the Inc. magazine 500|5000 fastest-growing private companies in 2004, 2009 and 2010. Birch was also named the seventh fastest -growing private company in Atlanta, and in the top 100 private companies in Atlanta, by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in 2010.
“I would like to thank the many loyal and dedicated employees and customers of Birch who have grown with us over our first 15 years in business”, said Vincent Oddo, Birch president and CEO. “Our employees’ ability to listen to our customers, understand their needs, and provide them the best service and value has allowed us to achieve this great milestone. When Birch says to a customer we are ‘At your service,®’ its our way of doing business.”
The company has grown to 400 employees today.
