Level 3 CDN Services to Enhance FBI’s Primary Website Performance, Effectiveness

FBI.gov to Offer More Content Capacity and Better Website Performance for Visitors

BROOMFIELD, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it was selected by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), through its prime contract holder Human Touch, to provide content delivery network (CDN) services to improve the performance of the FBI’s primary website, www.fbi.gov. Level 3’s services will also increase the FBI’s ability to refresh content more quickly, improve traffic monitoring, and enhance security while reducing associated costs.

In support of the FBI’s most comprehensive revamp of its website since its launch, Level 3 will deliver caching services for the site, local homepages for the department’s 56 field offices across the country as well as its site for citizens to report suspected terrorism or criminal activity, https://tips.fbi.gov/. As a result, the FBI will offer a better user experience to its visitors.

“The public looks to the FBI’s website for timely, important information, which is why it is critical for the website to be fast and easy to navigate, easy to manage, and cost-effective — and that’s exactly what we delivered,” said Edward Morche, senior vice president of Federal Markets for Level 3. “Beyond enhancing their website performance while reducing their costs, we’ve also given the FBI the exceptionally high level of responsiveness they wanted.”

Level 3’s CDN is designed to help customers control quality from creation to consumption. The company’s CDN combines the advantages of an industry-leading Internet backbone with a sophisticated, proven content delivery platform. This combination connects customers to high-performance, highly scalable services and simplifies delivery. And with one of the world’s largest IP networks, Level 3 is focused on providing an optimal path to connect content to end users.
