Cox Expands Midwest Data Center Footprint with QTS

QTS Adds Cox Network Connectivity Option for Midwestern Customers

Key Highlights:

  • Cox leverages QTS Data Center to expand Midwest colocation footprint in Wichita.
  • QTS adds Cox as new network provider to its Wichita Data Center.
  • Customers of both companies benefit from new service location and combined colocation and connectivity offers.

Overland Park, KS (February 10, 2011) – QTS (Quality Technology Services), one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing providers of data center facilities and managed services, today announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with leading broadband communications and entertainment company Cox Communications. The relationship provides Cox Business customers with flexible, secure colocation space in the QTS Wichita Data Center, and offers QTS customers access to the Cox network and access to a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the QTS data center location. Terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.

Cox sought a Midwest-based data center provider to help expand its available colocation space for business customers. Location, facilities and easy scalability were key aspects required for the successful provider.

“Cox views this partnership as beneficial for our customers and a great extension of existing broadband Internet and WAN meshed network services offered by Cox,” said Mark Tucker, vice president of Cox Business for Kansas/Arkansas. “We can provide high-quality colocation services in a secure facility that offers dual route diversity of Cox owned fiber optics connectivity.”

In addition to providing Cox with colocation, QTS will now be able to offer its customers Cox Communications’ ISP services. Hosting customers based in the QTS Wichita Data Center will now be able to bundle Cox Communications’ ISP and transport service with its QTS data center services.

“QTS is pleased to work with Cox to provide colocation, ISP and data transport services to our mutual customers,” said Mark Waddington, president of QTS. “Establishing this strategic relationship adds another carrier to our connectivity offerings in Wichita, expanding the network, flexibility and choice available to our Midwestern customers.”
