CENX Appoints Herb Hribar as its Chief Executive Officer

Jersey City, NJ, Friday February 4th 2011. CENX Inc., operator of the world’s first and most connected Carrier Ethernet exchanges with over 15m ESLs (Ethernet Service Locations), today announces the appointment of Herb Hribar as its Chief Executive Officer. Herb brings to CENX more than 35 years of hands-on executive leadership experience in telecommunications, playing pivotal roles in growth and financial success of multi-billion dollar wireless, fixed line carrier and cable operator organizations worldwide. For just over last 10 years, his operating leadership has resulted in the creation of $20b enterprise value in aggregate.

Herb’s executive leadership roles began with President of Ameritech Wireless (3.5m subscribers/$2b in revenue, one of the fastest growing wireless carriers in the US), President of Ameritech Europe ($2.5b investment in wireless and wire-line telecommunications operators) and General Manager of Sprint International for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. His recent leadership positions, which resulted in creating tremendous shareholder value, included serving as President and COO of Verio (acquired by NTT for $5.5b in 2000), COO of Eircom (largest telecommunications company in Ireland, IPO for $4b in 2004), COO of Cablecom (largest broadband cable operator in Switzerland, acquired by Liberty Global for $3.6b in 2005), and COO of Kabel Deutschland (largest broadband cable operator in Germany, IPO for $6.5b in 2010). He holds an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, an MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from The George Washington University. Herb is a graduate of the US Naval Academy with a BS in Ocean Engineering and served for 9 years as an officer in the United States Navy including responsibilities for telecommunications infrastructure.
