Cbeyond Receives 2010 Business Community Service Award

Annual Day of Service Fostered Renovations, Interaction with Children at MUST Ministries

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Cbeyond, Inc. (NASDAQ:CBEY, news, filings), a leading provider of IT and communications services to small businesses across the country, was recently honored as the recipient of a 2010 Business Community Service Award, presented annually by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Trend magazine. The award recognizes Cobb County businesses for exceptional community service performed in conjunction with local not-for-profit organizations.

Cbeyond was nominated by community partner MUST Ministries, a faith-based organization that provides the homeless with food, temporary housing and career training. As part of Cbeyond’s annual Day of Service, held October 2, 2010, employee volunteers completed a large-scale transformative project at MUST Ministries. Cbeyond volunteers not only assisted in building, landscaping and cleaning projects, but also packaged personal care gifts for clients. Over 5,000 people will benefit from the volunteer project over the year.

“It is apparent that Cbeyond understands the vital role that not-for-profits play in the Cobb community,” said Rob Garcia, chairman of the board at the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, in an award recognition letter. “Cbeyond’s contributions, both of time and resources, make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of Cobb’s citizens, and we applaud your efforts.”

The Day of Service is one of several Cbeyond initiatives to improve the communities the company calls home. Employee volunteer projects have included teaching local children about technology careers, sharing IT experience with non-profit organizations and donating software to community partners. In 2007 and 2010, Cbeyond was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

“Cbeyond and its employees share a great passion for unselfishly donating their time and talents to the community,” said Jim Geiger, president and CEO of Cbeyond. “Since our company’s inception, we have contributed more than 50,000 hours to the local communities in which we operate, and we encourage our team to pursue opportunities in areas that interest them. Our partnership with MUST Ministries is a result of such dedication and interest, and we look forward to continuing to improve the communities in which we live and work.”
