WVT COMMUNICATIONS / USA DATANET USES SONUS TO UPGRADE OFFERINGS WITH CLASS 5 SERVICES

Upgrade Makes Company More Competitive by Adding Products and Services to Their Portfolio

WESTFORD, Mass., Jan. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS, news, filings), a market leader in next-generation IP-based network solutions , today announced that WVT Communications and its business division, USA Datanet, have enhanced their services and added Class 5 services by upgrading their network with Sonus equipment. The new deployment includes a GSX9000 High-Density Media Gateway , additional ASX Telephony Application Servers , and a redundant Insight Customer Portal .

WVT Communications is a full-services telecommunications company that serves New York State and northern New Jersey with business-class, hosted IP Voice and data services. The company was founded in 1902.

“We will be able to move up to Class 5 and enhance our current services by upgrading our Sonus GSX/NBS and PSX products,” said Jay Mercer , SVP, Network Operations, WVT Communications. “But the impact doesn’t stop there. We can broaden our residential, wholesale and business offerings as well as replace our end-of-life Pactolus platform. These benefits will make WVT stronger in a highly competitive market.”

The GSX9000 gateway features a scalable blade-server architecture that allows customers to add more TDM or IP processing capacity to the chassis as their networks grow and evolve. This functionality makes the GSX9000/NBS Session Border Controller ideal for network peering, international gateways and Class 4 switch replacements . The ASX Server includes a suite of residential and business features that can be delivered to both IP and non-IP endpoints for a consistent user experience among the widest number of subscribers.
