London, 11th January, 2011: MASERGY, a global provider of secure virtualised network services to enterprises, today announced that it is implementing a Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) solution for City Index, a leading global provider of retail trading services. As a group, City Index has over 600 employees worldwide, with offices in the UK, US, Poland, Singapore, China and Australia. Due to various acquisitions over the last five years, City Index had built up a hybrid of three separate networks with varied technology and multiple providers around the globe, with no single point of contact. City Index needed a seamless, global network solution to guarantee reliable communication between all its offices.
MASERGY was selected from among other leading Tier 1 and 2 network providers, for its cost effective and flexible global network platform.
The network roll-out has already been completed for offices in London, Sydney and Singapore, and over the next few months may be extended across various locations in the US, UK, Singapore and Sydney. Three global data centres located in North America, Europe and Asia will have redundant connections to MASERGY, and all the local offices will have a single connection to the nearest geographically located data centre. After the completion of the proposed project, MASERGY will be the sole WAN provider for City Index.
MASERGY’s Layer 2 VPLS solution delivers a secure, scalable and easy to manage network environment and supports IP and non IP applications. As City Index grows it can easily increase the number of sites and further build out its corporate WAN. City Index also is running its voice and video applications across the network to take advantage of MASERGY’s superior quality of service (QoS) performance.
Increased visibility and control is an additional advantage of this virtualised network solution, enhancing City Index’s ability to analyse network traffic patterns and troubleshoot application performance issues. MASERGY’s Intelligent Network Analyst (INA) service has proven critical to helping City Index identify potential problems and plan for its future WAN requirement; while the Intelligent Service Control (ISC) service allows City Index to have control of its network services via a web portal to adjust its bandwidth in real time with no external assistance to meet changing service demands.
Marc Morgan-Davies, Network Team Lead of City Index, stated: “I am impressed with the robustness and performance of the MASERGY network. All of the installations have gone very smoothly, on time and as planned, and we have been kept informed at every step along the way.”
“City Index has a clear vision of what they require from their corporate network and a strong understanding of the advanced global network services available in the market today. They want a network partner that can ensure global site-to-site quality of service while allowing clients to manage their services internally,” said John Dumbleton, UK Managing Director of MASERGY.
