ADTRAN Delivers Breakthrough in Service Provider Operations Simplification

ADTRAN’s Advanced Operational Environment Takes Network Management to the Next Level
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Jan 06, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) —

ADTRAN(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading supplier of next-generation networking solutions, today announced the Advanced Operational Environment (AOE), a management framework focused on service delivery and overall operational improvement. AOE moves beyond the traditional role of a Network Management System by abstracting the hardware and associated learning curve away from the user or OSS interface. Instead, AOE provides a service-centric approach to management, adding a knowledge base using expert system logic to provide innovative cost and time-saving service activation and diagnostic capabilities.

“AOE provides the foundation for a multitude of value-add applications that offer both operational savings and revenue generation opportunities for our customers,” said Ken Gold, product line manager, network management solutions, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “Our customers sell services, therefore we focused our management system efforts to align with our customers’ operational needs.”

AOE is designed to integrate with existing OSS systems, reducing the need for disparate management tools and allowing customers to provide and diagnose services using the same familiar billing, provisioning, equipment and facilities systems they use today. Combined with ADTRAN’s integrated diagnostic capabilities, AOE is designed to reduce the time it takes to coordinate and diagnose a customer trouble call from several hours to a few minutes. AOE provides for both machine interfaces for automation as well as a friendly Web interface to access special features and functions, requiring only a Web browser and a secure login.

“In this competitive and challenging economic environment, service providers are looking at tools and best practices that can improve their margins and generate revenue,” said Glen Hunt, principal analyst, Current Analysis. “ADTRAN has incorporated its expertise and market presence into AOE to make a positive impact on their customers’ bottom line. AOE’s service-oriented approach advances access solutions by providing more comprehensive support for their customers’ business models.”

AOE is available now and in trials at several carriers. For more information, visit www.adtran.com/AOE.
