Donate A New Toy And Receive up to $25 Off a New Phone
WAYNESBORO, VA – nTelos Wireless is calling on the community to support the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program this holiday season and is dedicating space in more than 60 retail stores to serve as drop-off locations.
The Waynesboro-based provider of dependable nationwide 3G wireless services is offering up to $25 off a new phone to anyone donating a new toy to the Toys for Tots program. The toy drive will run from now through December 22, 2010 at all nTelos stores located throughout Virginia and West Virginia.
“As a high-quality local communications company, we understand the importance of connecting the community in a common cause,” said Conrad Hunter, president of nTelos Wireless. “We are committed to doing our part to ensure that the children who benefit from the Toys for Tots program won’t go without. And, we are happy to give back to our customers and to our local communities with programs like Toys for Tots that enhance our nationwide service offerings and also make a notable difference. “
The objectives of the annual Toys for Tots drive is to help children in need experience the joy of the holidays, to nurture the development of children, to unite members of local communities in a common cause and to contribute to the future betterment of communities. In the 63 years since the Toys for Tots program began, the Marines have distributed more than 419 million toys to more than 195 million underprivileged children.
According to a recent report from the United States Census Bureau, the poverty rate climbed to 14.3 percent in 2009 — the highest level since 1994. And, the rise was steepest for children, with one in five residents under 18 living below the poverty line. Given these escalating statistics, providing gifts to all children living in poverty has become increasingly difficult each year, according to the Marine Toys for Tots officials.
“The need is great, especially this time of year,” Hunter added. “It doesn’t take much to give and we are doing our best to make it easy for those in our communities to give back to a good cause.”
