Robust IP-VPN Platform Enables Capture of New Market Opportunities
HONG KONG, December 7, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today announced that CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited (HKEx: 1883) has deployed routers and switches running the Junos® operating system to help address global market opportunities. With Juniper Networks® M Series Multiservice Edge Routers and EX Series Ethernet Switches in place, CITIC Telecom Int’l has been able to boost capacity, reliability and performance while improving quality-of-service management.
CITIC Telecom Int’l is a flagship division of China’s CITIC Group and has been strengthening its position to compete in the global telecom market both through network expansion and acquisition. CITIC Telecom Int’l has recently acquired China Enterprise Communications Ltd—the first independent IP-VPN service provider to be granted a nationwide IP-VPN license—which will be consolidated into CITIC Telecom Int’l.
“We believe that provisioning of value-added IP-VPN services between China and the rest of the world will become one of our key growth drivers,” said Sutton Cheung, CTO of CITIC Telecom Int’l. “To position ourselves to maximize market opportunities, we needed to strengthen our network infrastructure by adding points of presence, expanding capacity, increasing redundancy and improving control over quality-of-service. Juniper Networks’ solution meets all those needs while enabling us to streamline network operation by leveraging the power of Junos across our infrastructure.”
CITIC Telecom Int’l has deployed additional Juniper Networks M120 routers at its core nodes in Hong Kong and Los Angeles with M10i routers deployed at other Int’l points-of-presence (PoPs). Within its Hong Kong PoPs, Juniper Networks EX4200 switches have been deployed to aggregate links with the customers of CITIC Telecom Int’l.
“Moves by CITIC Telecom Int’l to build strength in the IP-VPN market clearly show that changes in the global economy are creating new opportunities for service providers,” said Mike Marcellin, vice president of product marketing and strategy, Juniper Networks. “By deploying Juniper Networks M Series routers and EX Series switches, all running on Junos, CITIC Telecom Int’l has put itself in a strong position to capitalize on those opportunities by delivering world-class quality of service.”
Juniper Networks M Series Multiservice Edge Routers combine IP/MPLS capabilities with unmatched reliability, stability, security, and service richness. These network routing platforms allow service providers to consolidate multiple networks into a single IP/MPLS infrastructure. EX Series Ethernet switches leverage the same field-proven Juniper technology—including high-performance ASICs, a carrier-class system architecture, and Junos operating system—that powers the world’s largest service provider networks.
