Cbeyond Promotes Wellness in the Workplace, Opens Corporate Gymnasium at Atlanta Headquarters

Cbeyond Partners with Premiere Fitness Company, Excellence in Exercise, to Build Complete Exercise facility at Corporate Campus

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In a move to promote healthy behaviors among its over 800 Atlanta-based employees, Cbeyond (www.cbeyond.net), has built and opened a gymnasium at its Atlanta headquarters that offers employees a free and convenient facility to exercise and participate in various wellness programs.

Cbeyond, a leading provider of IT and communications services to small businesses across the country, partnered with Excellence in Exercise, www.excellenceinexercise.com, an Atlanta-based training studio, to build the facility and provide a variety of exercise classes ranging from yoga to Zumba, a dance fitness program based on salsa and merengue.

The 7,700 square-foot facility, which includes more than 20 pieces of cardio equipment, is named the "Jimnasium," a playful tribute to Cbeyond CEO and founder, Jim Geiger. Geiger built Cbeyond on a corporate culture focused on community giving and teamwork. The "Jimnasium" will serve as a central part of the company's overall wellness program. Exercise in Excellence also is creating a series of fun and creative "seasonal" campaigns to encourage Cbeyond employees to increase physical activity.

For example, during the holiday season, Cbeyond employees can participate in the "Maintain Don't Gain," program in which teams of employees compete to monitor their eating habits during the holidays and visit the Jimnasium on a regular basis. Winning teams will receive a range of prizes, such as $100 gift cards for fitness gear. Exercise in Excellence also is creating a variety of fitness tips which they e-mail to employees on a weekly basis.

"Cbeyond is making a concerted effort to make exercise fun and convenient for its employees," Geiger said. "Working with the Exercise in Excellence team, Cbeyond is providing its workforce an opportunity to increase healthy behaviors and participate in friendly competition with their co-workers which also supports our culture of working together to achieve results."

Additionally, the Jimnasium demonstrates Cbeyond's dedication to its employees, according to Tino Mantella, president of the Technology Association of Georgia.

"Cbeyond sets the standard in Georgia's technology community by investing in its employees to ensure healthy, happy workers," Mantella said. "For more than 10 years, Cbeyond through its programs — ranging from community service to its on-site exercise facility — has demonstrated that even in tough economic environments, Georgia's best technology companies focus on people as well as profitability."
