Zayo to expand to 1,700 mile Fiber Network throughout Minneapolis, St Paul and surrounding markets >
LOUISVILLE, Colo. – November 9, 2010 –Zayo Group, a provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, announced today that it will materially expand its network offering in Minnesota. Zayo will extend its fiber network to 1,700 miles throughout Minneapolis, St Paul and surrounding markets in order to enable fiber-based communications for carriers, enterprises and high bandwidth services.
Zayo’s material investment in Minnesota will result in one of the most dense and accessible fiber-based markets in the country and will create jobs for the surrounding local communities. Zayo’s local support team offers a full suite of network solutions to businesses, schools, hospitals, government agencies and non-profit organizations.
As a component of the investment, Zayo will increase its high bandwidth fiber-to-the-tower (FTT) coverage for multiple wireless providers in five Minnesota markets. This expansion adds Ethernet and TDM services to ~350 wireless tower sites and includes connectivity to a new wireless mobile switching center.
"Combining this new investment with assets from our recently completed acquisition of American Fiber Systems, the recently announced stimulus award, and Zayo’s existing Minnesota fiber network, Zayo will have a broad network to meet the growing communications and bandwidth needs throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas," stated Dan Caruso, President and CEO of Zayo Group. "We look forward to leveraging our diverse footprint across all of our business units in order to provide bandwidth infrastructure solutions for our carrier and enterprise customers." The specific markets that will be served by this expansion are: Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Rochester, Owatonna and Northfield.
