TelecityGroup announces further UK expansion

Expansion in Docklands and new facility to be built in Manchester to add 6.5MW of customer capacity

TelecityGroup, Europe’s industry-leading provider of premium network independent data centres, has announced further capacity expansion in the UK. In response to increasing customer demand, 3 megawatts (MW) of customer capacity will be added in the highly connected Docklands area of London and a new 3.5 MW data centre will be built in Manchester.

TelecityGroup aims to support its customers by increasing capacity in constrained markets. The expansion in the Docklands area of London will add 3 MW of customer capacity in one of Europe’s most in-demand data centre campuses, opening in Q4 2011.

Following its recent acquisition of Internet Facilitators Limited (‘IFL’) in Manchester, TelecityGroup is also announcing a new 3.5MW data centre in the city. The facility is scheduled to open in Q3 2011 to fulfil the latent demand for highly connected capacity in the north of England.

Adriaan Oosthoek, Managing Director of TelecityGroup UK and Ireland, comments:  “We are pleased to announce the expansion at Harbour Exchange, one of our most in-demand sites in the Docklands area, as well as the new facility in Manchester. Both will complement the 21MW expansion to Powergate which we announced in April this year, as we continue to invest in our portfolio of data centres in the UK.”
