Juniper Networks Wins 2010 Broadband InfoVision Award

Juniper’s Junos® Trio Chipset Takes Top Honors in “Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies” Category

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 3, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) announced today it has received a Broadband InfoVision Award New Window during a recent ceremony at  the Broadband World Forum 2010 New Window , held in Paris, France. Juniper’s Junos Trio chipset was selected as the winner in the “Most Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies” category.

The Broadband InfoVision Awards are one of the most prestigious recognitions of excellence in the broadband marketplace, bestowed by an independent judging panel comprised of senior professionals of the world’s leading operators, including China Telecom, AT&T, Orange, PCCW, Etisalat, Telstra, Telus, Korea Telekom and Deutsche Telekom.

“The Broadband InfoVision Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate excellence in the broadband industry. The standard of entries was very high with more than 145 entries and the judges had some tough choices to make to select this year’s winners,” said Gavin Whitechurch, director, Broadband World Forum. “I would like to congratulate Juniper Networks on winning the Most Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies Award.”

With more than 30 patent-pending innovations, Junos Trio is a new purpose-built silicon chipset, based on an advanced network instruction set designed and optimized for the next generation services edge, including Juniper Networks® MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers. The chipset dramatically improves business economics with its dynamic 3D scaling technology for bandwidth, subscribers and services, enabling a truly converged platform with exceptional power efficiency. It also provides improved performance, scalability and flexibility. Its fully programmable engine makes it highly extensible while enabling service innovation with superior end-user quality of experience.

By leveraging this powerful technology, Juniper has been able to increase the capacity of its MX Series routers to enable quality of experience at massive scale. Specifically, the MX 3D Ethernet Routers offer double the line card capacity, double the packet delivery capability and three times better power efficiency than competitive platforms.

“Innovation is a vital element for developing new technologies and Junos Trio represents an  exceptional integration of silicon and software that pushes the boundaries of high-performance networking and is only available from Juniper,” said Rami Rahim, senior vice president and general manager, Edge and Aggregation Business Unit, Juniper Networks. “We are honored that Juniper’s Junos Trio chipset is recognized as a unique innovation in the silicon and component technology area. This chipset  is not only compelling from a technical perspective, but also from a financial perspective, as it significantly transforms the economics of service delivery by allowing service providers to extract maximum value from their most strategic asset — their network.”
