Sonus Networks’ Connexions 2010 Offers First- Hand View of the Technology Shaping the Future of Communications

SONUS NETWORKS’ CONNEXIONS 2010 OFFERS FIRST- HAND VIEW OF THE TECHNOLOGY SHAPING THE FUTURE OF COMMUNICATIONS

“Technology Zone” Demonstrations Highlight Cutting-edge Technology for Border Control and Unified Communications

WESTFORD, Mass., October 12, 2010 – Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS, news, filings), a market leader in next-generation IP-based network solutions, today announced that the Technology Zone at Connexions 2010 will host multiple live demonstrations of how its technology helps service providers and enterprises not only to solve current problems but also to plan for future. The company‟s premier customer and partner meeting will take place October 12-14, 2010, at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida.

The event‟s Technology Zone will provide Connexions attendees with hands-on demonstrations of current products and give insight into upcoming features. An associated Partner Pavilion gives Sonus partners the opportunity to demonstrate their own products and illustrate the benefits of deploying combined solutions.

“At Connexions 2010 we are providing our customers and partners with an in-depth and hands-on view of the complete breadth of products and new technologies from Sonus Networks,” said Guru Pai, chief operating officer at Sonus Networks. “Our Technology Zone will demonstrate the power of our ConnexIP platform and highlight the company’s recent innovations in the areas of high-definition voice, unified communications, and fixed smartphone convergence. The technology on display at Connexions 2010 includes solutions for the industry‟s most immediate needs and also paves the way for tomorrow’s solutions.”

Demonstrations that will be presented at Connexions 2010 include the following:

High Definition Voice
Sonus will demonstrate how the company‟s technology delivers HD Voice for both end users and service providers. End users experience the benefit of crisp, clear conversations in which nuances are conveyed and second-language speakers can be better understood. HD Voice can also improve text-to-speech applications and speech recognition solutions, ultimately improving customer satisfaction.

Unified Communications
Highlighting the importance of Unified Communications for enterprise markets, Sonus experts will showcase the Enhanced Services Portal (ESP), which brings together chat, presence, voice mail, email, and calling capabilities in one portal. The Enhanced Services Portal improves employee productivity by giving them a single access point to all these applications anywhere, at any time, and through any device. It is a web-based model that improves productivity and lowers operational costs because there is no desktop software to deploy and manage and no IT staff needed to support it.

Voice Security for the Enterprise
Developed using Sonus‟ patent-pending technology, the Voice Security solution from Sonus ensures that enterprises moving to SIP trunking are protected from Vishing, and computer-generated SPAM calls. By blocking rogue calls before they reach the Call Center PBX / ACD, it reduces the excess call volume that drives costly upgrades and it increases customer satisfaction by reducing the hold time. It also improves security by preventing corporate information from being revealed to Vishing attackers on the call center infrastructure

Network Analytics Solutions
In this demonstration, Sonus will illustrate how „quality‟ has different meanings on IP networks and on VoIP networks. The demonstration will show how Sonus can „actively‟ insert traffic and monitor the QoS/QoE to pinpoint and troubleshoot problem areas in our customers‟ VoIP networks. Other demonstrations will include a simplified view of network performance and historical analysis of network configuration and performance.

Network Border Switch
Sonus’ NBS5200™, which is the first product launched on the Sonus ConnexIP platform, delivers unmatched performance in real-world conditions by providing both depth of features and scalability. Sonus will demonstrate five different product benefits: raw performance, transcoding, Xcoding and SMM, encryption and Ipv4 – Ipv6 interworking. By replacing multiple boxes with just one through onboard media services, it reduces costs and saves both call center space and energy. The NBS5200 offers a superior routing and policy engine, either local or central.

IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)
Sonus provides a standards-based solution for fixed, cable, mobile and interconnect providers that reduces barriers to IMS deployment and shrinks costs. With extensive functionality in a single box, Sonus‟s linearly scalable deployment architecture allows customers to add capacity at targeted locations.

Fixed Smartphone Convergence
New capabilities in the Sonus Networks ASX Telephony Application Server allow cable operators to provide their subscribers with home phone service that can “share” an existing phone line with up to five additional SIP-enabled devices, including 3G/Wi-Fi enabled smartphones. With the Sonus Fixed – Smartphone Convergence solution in action, live calls coming into a landline phone will ring simultaneously on different devices, including a PC softphone and a SIP-enabled smartphone. Visitors will see how easy it is to answer the call on any of the phones and transfer as necessary, even as other users make outbound calls on other devices.

Partner Demonstrations
Demonstrations in Connexion 2010‟s Partner Pavilion will include:

Oracle: Platinum Sponsor Oracle will highlight the Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database and the Oracle‟s Sun Netra carrier-grade servers at booth 42. Oracle products are embedded in the solutions of partners like Sonus Networks and other leading communications companies worldwide.
