Level 3 Enhances Grooveshark’s Music Streaming Capabilities

Provides Underlying High-Speed Internet Connectivity to On-Demand Music Service Company

BROOMFIELD, Colo., October 14, 2010

Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Grooveshark, an on-demand music service company and subsidiary of Escape Media Group, to provide high-speed Internet Protocol (HSIP) services to facilities in Denver and Jacksonville, Fla.

Based in Gainesville, Fla., Grooveshark offers a Web-based platform aimed at simplifying the digital music environment for consumers, artists and content distributers. Under the terms of the agreement, Level 3 will provide Grooveshark with HSIP services, using an international IP network and access to efficient low-latency routes to enhance Grooveshark’s online music streaming capabilities. The agreement will also enable the company to use Level 3’s HSIP as an in-house solution for scalable bandwidth. This will allow Grooveshark to leverage Level 3’s HSIP to provide direct streaming to its customers, thereby reducing costs and improving service quality.

“Grooveshark strives to provide the best music streaming service to every music fan in the world,” said Colin Hostert, chief information officer of Escape Media Group. “Level 3’s reliable HSIP service helps us simplify our content delivery by bringing the solution in-house, and leveraging their fiber network enables us to offer consumers an efficient way to enjoy our vast selection of music.”

“As the demand for immediate access to online content increases, enterprises are relying upon high-speed bandwidth as a necessary element for their critical business objectives,” said Andrew Crouch, president of Sales for Level 3. “Our HSIP service offers customers an efficient and scalable solution for bandwidth capacity, and we are pleased to work with Grooveshark to improve their customers’ digital music experience.”

Level 3 leverages the company’s extensive fiber-optic network, metro assets and a locally focused sales and sales support organization to deliver world-class services to enterprise customers and service providers throughout the United States.
