Juniper Networks Unveils the Industry’s Only Integrated Security Solution that Both Protects Personal and Business Data and Secures Remote Access Across Virtually All Mobile Devices
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 26, 2010 — Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings) today introduced the Junos® Pulse Mobile Security Suite, comprehensive security software for protecting mobile devices and defending your mobile life whether they are used for work, for play, or both. The Mobile Security Suite is part of the broader Junos Pulse platform and is the only integrated solution on the market to provide both security and secure connectivity for virtually all mobile devices.
The software suite includes anti-virus, personal firewall, anti-spam, loss and theft prevention, and monitoring and control services. It enables enterprises to provide employees secure access to corporate applications and e-mail on mobile devices, while keeping business data and networks safe. It also lets service providers deliver a worry-free mobile experience to consumers and enterprises who routinely store sensitive information on their smart phones. Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite also provides peace of mind for parents who wish to protect their children from inappropriate contact and exploitation.
“It’s no secret that personal mobile devices are quickly becoming the defacto means for access to corporate networks, making them one of the most valuable, but also most vulnerable portals to sensitive personal and professional information,” said Mark Bauhaus, executive vice president and general manager, Service Layer Technologies Business Group at Juniper Networks. “For the first time, using our Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite, consumers and businesses have a way to fully protect and secure their mobile work and lifestyles, opening up new applications and opportunities for the entire mobility market.”
For the Enterprise: Better Security, More Choices
According to a study commissioned by Juniper, fewer than 4 percent of users use mobile devices strictly for business; 40 percent use them for both business and personal. Eighty-one percent of these users access their employer’s network without their employer’s knowledge or permission and 58 percent do so every day. For IT departments, mobile devices represent a new and vulnerable endpoint for threats distributed via email, text messaging, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and application downloads. Even worse, business data is at risk every time a device is lost or stolen. Historically, IT managers have responded to this challenge by issuing employees a strictly limited set of mobile devices, however, that trend appears to be reversing as IT increasingly becomes consumerized.
Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite is the only mobile security solution that allows enterprise IT departments to flexibly support virtually any personal mobile device, regardless of platform. It builds on Juniper’s market-leading SSL VPN solution—which is already deployed in tens of thousands of enterprises worldwide.
For the Consumer: A Worry-Free Experience, For Service Providers: Value-added Security Services
More than 80 percent of mobile device owners store personal information on their handsets1—including sensitive personal, health and financial data. With the Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite, service providers can assure consumers that private data will stay that way, and offer value-added security services, including comprehensive protection from viruses, spam and malware, as well as parental controls, including inappropriate device use, such as the sending or receiving of sexually explicit messages or images. Consumers will also be able to easily locate lost or stolen devices through the devices’ GPS, and activate remote data wipes to protect consumers’ critical information. The Junos Pulse platform enables providers to not only offer a cloud-based service to consumers, but also leverage the same investment to deliver the industry’s leading SSL-VPN and mobile security solution to enterprises.
“Consumers and business users rely on smartphones for e-mail, contacts, mobile banking and other applications that require sensitive personal data, and most users don’t have a full understanding of what would happen if their phone was lost or stolen,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for network security at Infonetics Research. “Juniper is a trailblazer when it comes to end-to-end security for mobile infrastructure, and their Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite extends their mobile security vision to the devices themselves.”
