Level 3 Wins Online Gaming Operator Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd

Level 3 to Provide Caching and Download Services for Leading White Label Bingo Company

LONDON, Sep 21, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced it will provide content delivery network (CDN) services for Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd, developers of popular white label Bingo and networked gaming solutions for the online gambling community.

Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd currently maintains licenses with more than 20 well-known providers of Internet bingo products, including Ladbrokes, Virgin Games, Paddy Power, William Hill, Mecca Bingo, Sky and bet365. Under the terms of the contract, Level 3 will provide caching and download services, allowing Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd to greatly improve the end-user experience with faster and more consistent download times. The agreement will also result in a significant reduction in the company’s data centre bandwidth charges.

“The consistent performance of our CDN is crucial to ensuring a great gaming experience for our customers,” said Bob McCulloch, CEO of Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd. “With Level 3, we can deliver top quality and reliability for our customers whilst realising a significant cost efficiency for our own business.”

Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd’s operations are located on the island of Guernsey in the British Channel Islands. Because of its remote island location, the company had previously been limited in its telecommunications options. By switching to Level 3’s CDN for their caching and download needs, the company will have access to Level 3’s suite of media delivery services, which are designed for global reach and optimized for the end-user experience.

“Level 3’s CDN solution for Virtue Fusion (Alderney) Ltd provides the scalability and network resiliency they need to meet current and future demand,” said James Heard, president of European Markets at Level 3. “We’re pleased that we were able to provide a better solution for their needs whilst helping them to reduce some of their previous infrastructure and usage costs.”
