Frontier Communications Appoints John J. Lass as President of Central Region

STAMFORD, Conn., Sep 23, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) —

Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings), the leading provider of communications services to rural America, recently announced the appointment of John J. Lass as President of the company’s Central Region, comprising Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin. The Central Region, Frontier’s largest operation with approximately 1.1 million customers, is headquartered in Burnsville, Minnesota.

“John consistently demonstrates extraordinary expertise and leadership ability,” said Maggie Wilderotter, Chairman and CEO. “Our plan to deploy broadband aggressively in the Central Region represents tremendous opportunities for our customers, communities, employees and shareholders, and John is a proven leader who will deliver results. His experience in integrating new acquisitions – he managed our transition of the former Commonwealth Telephone properties in Pennsylvania and earlier acquisitions – made him the natural choice to lead Frontier’s largest region.”

“John is customer-focused and completely attuned to the needs of residential, small business and large commercial customers in our markets,” added Chief Operating Officer Dan McCarthy. “He is also an enthusiastic advocate of Frontier’s local engagement business model and dedicated to building and enhancing community relationships. John is the right leader for this very important region.”

Prior to Frontier’s Verizon properties’ acquisition in July, Lass was Senior Vice President/General Manager of the company’s former Central Region. Earlier, he was Vice President, Integration, responsible for managing all aspects related to newly acquired properties. In addition, he previously served as Vice President, Revenue Assurance and Regional Operations Vice President.

His tenure with the company includes service as Vice President and General Manager of Citizens Utilities’ Vermont Electrical Division, a former division of Frontier. Lass has held a variety of operations positions in New York and the Midwest with Frontier/Citizens Utilities, GTE and Contel over the past 29 years.

Lass earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and an Associate of Arts Degree from Iowa Central Community College. He resides in Mound, Minn., with his family.
