BTI Systems Expands Bandwidth Capacity for Consolidated Communications

Packet Optical Solution Enables the Delivery of High-Definition Television, Voice and Data Services for Residential and Business Customers in Illinois

OTTAWA — Tuesday, August 3, 2010 // BTI Systems, the company that redefines metro service delivery, today announced that Consolidated Communications has deployed the BTI Systems 7000 Series packet-optical platform to keep pace with the increase in demand for HDTV, voice and data bandwidth required by their residential and business customers accessing its regional Illinois network.

“BTI Systems delivers capacity, scalability and a cost-effective solution that was easy to deploy and operate,” said Troy Conley, senior manager, Network Engineering for Consolidated Communications.  “As we look to continue expanding our services and infrastructure, the BTI 7000 Series will play a crucial role in helping us keep pace with evolving bandwidth demands.”

Faced with the need to create new revenue opportunities and ensure capacity to offer current customers access to next-generation services while attracting new customers, Consolidated Communications selected the BTI Systems 7000 Series packet optical network solution.  The 7000 Series lights a DWDM, 40-channel capable, 500 mile circumference ring and supports Consolidated Communications’ MPLS core network; the network enables quick bandwidth expansion for enhanced services like HDTV in a compact, easy-to-use packet optical networking system.  The solution is scalable, with a pay-as-you-grow architecture that will allow Consolidated Communications to increase network bandwidth connectivity from 10G to 400G on a single fiber pair and align its network capacity and service offerings at much lower costs.  With the platform from BTI Systems, Consolidated Communications avoids the capital expenditure that would have been required to augment its fiber network infrastructure and ensures available network bandwidth and fiber capacity.

“Consolidated Communications is dedicated to providing its customers a comprehensive and complete range of services over its advanced network,” said Peter Dale, VP of Americas Sales, BTI Systems, Inc.  “Consolidated has established a great foundation for their growth, allowing the company to rapidly serve customer demand and focus their attention on enhanced customer services without concern for capacity limitations in their fiber infrastructure.”
