SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (August 17, 2010) – FairPoint Communications has expanded broadband availability to an additional 130 homes and businesses in the Williston, Vermont area.

FairPoint’s VantagePoint network, a fiber-based core network, is now available along these Williston streets: Gullybrook, Meadowbend, Middlewood, Pine, Red Pine, Stonehill, Sugarbush, Trillium, Walden Woods and Williston Woods.

With speed options as fast as 15Mbps, downloading entire movies will take seconds. Broadband service on the VantagePoint network provides customers with the ability to smoothly stream live video, play online games at lightning speeds and upload photos and large files with ease. Always-on broadband access provides almost instant connections to information, news and entertainment.

More than $111 million has been invested by FairPoint in the communications infrastructure and technology to bring the VantagePoint network to northern New England, including laying more than 411 miles of new fiber across the region.

“VantagePoint is enabling us to expand broadband service into areas with no high-speed Internet access and provide faster broadband connections to existing service areas,” said Michael K. Smith, Vermont state president for FairPoint.
