Veteran marketing executive to focus on extending Company’s brand and strategic market opportunities throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South America
CAMBRIDGE, MA – July 26, 2010 – Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM, news, filings), the leading provider of cloud optimization services, announced today that Martin Häring has joined Akamai as Vice President of International Marketing. With over two decades of executive leadership experience in marketing and strategic business development, Mr. Häring is a 17-year veteran with Sun Microsystems, most recently serving as Vice President Worldwide Field Marketing for Sun’s Systems Line of Business. Based in Zürich, Mr. Häring will lead Akamai’s international marketing efforts, focusing on the Company’s strategic growth opportunities outside of North America. He will report to Greg Lazar, Akamai’s General Manager for International Markets.

During his tenure at Sun Microsystems, Mr. Häring held several international marketing positions including Vice President Marketing EMEA, Senior Director of Marketing for South and East Europe, Middle East & Africa and Director of Marketing for Germany and Austria. His experience includes strategic business planning and development, product marketing, channel marketing, industry marketing, as well as branding and communications. He started his career as a systems engineer at the IBM Labs in Böblingen, Germany. He received a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Cooperative Education (BA) in Stuttgart, Germany.
