Zayo Bandwidth to Add Additional Towers to Deep Fiber Footprint

LOUISVILLE, Colo. – June 10, 2010 – Zayo Bandwidth, which couples national, regional and local fiber connections with industry-leading customer service, will expand its high bandwidth capacity fiber-to-tower (FTT) coverage by adding Ethernet and TDM services to wireless tower sites throughout central and Wilkes Barre, PA. The expansion increases the number of FTT customer locations served by Zayo Bandwidth to over 1,700, with another 800 customer locations pending, further strengthening the company’s position as a key industry provider of FTT bandwidth solutions.

Wireless carriers are often hamstrung by the lack of backhaul fiber solutions in less populated regions of the country, yet the industry is under increasing pressure to add high capacity coverage for wireless users in remote areas. Zayo Bandwidth’s network expansion in Pennsylvania, as well as recent deployments in other tertiary markets such as Spokane, WA and Couer D’Alene, ID, give wireless carriers fiber route diversity, as well as the choice to work with a customer service leader.

“We have network assets where customers need them, and we’re continually deploying more,” stated Chris Murphy, vice president, sales and business development for Zayo Bandwidth. “What’s more, we don’t simply deploy fiber, we design and implement custom networks andemploy trained, experienced people who support wireless carriers’ needs as they connect to Zayo supported towers.”

Across its numerous FTT deployments, Zayo Bandwidth will provide FTT services in support of 3g and 4g wireless networks, which are increasingly becoming tools for massive data transfers as mobile users consume video and other high bandwidth applications.

“With over 2,500 FTT customer locations in-place and under construction across the U.S., Zayo nimbly supports our wireless carrier customers’ growth requirements,” stated John Scarano, COO of Zayo Group and president of Zayo Bandwidth. “Today we serve all the major wireless carriers. As our FTT services are deployed in additional geographies, everyone benefits for the long-term.”
