Terremark Launches the NAP of Amsterdam

Company Signs Lease Agreement with Digital Realty for Top-Tier Facility

AMS-IX Agrees to Establish Peering Node

Schiphol Group Secured as Anchor Customer

MIAMI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMRK), a leading global provider of managed IT infrastructure services, today announced the launch of the Network Access Point (NAP) of Amsterdam. Terremark’s NAP of Amsterdam will provide 25,000 square feet of colocation space within a physically robust facility inside the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Area under a lease agreement with Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: DLR – News). The facility will feature massive connectivity with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), one of the world’s largest internet exchanges, committed to establish a peering node at the datacenter. The company has also secured Schiphol Group, which owns and operates some of Europe’s busiest airports, as the data center’s anchor customer.

Terremark’s NAP of Amsterdam, which is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of Terremark’s fiscal year 2011, will serve as the Company’s flagship European facility and allow Terremark to offer its full suite of industry-leading services, including cloud computing and managed hosting, from a new, state-of-the-art facility. Through its lease agreement with Digital Realty and working closely with Schiphol Group, the turn-key datacenter will provide advanced cooling, power, redundancy, and sustainability features, as well as reusing dissipated heat generated by the facility, to ensure that critical applications are available while optimizing energy efficiency. The initial 15-year term of the agreement is backed by options that give Terremark the opportunity to extend the lease for up to 50 years and provides the Company with full operational control over the facility. In addition, Terremark holds options to build two additional facilities with 50,000 square feet of colocation space each on land directly adjacent to the NAP of Amsterdam.

”Our ability to rapidly and cost effectively provide top-tier datacenter properties in support of Terremark’s expansion efforts positioned Digital Realty as a key partner for this exciting project,” said Michael F. Foust, Digital Realty’s CEO. “We’re very excited to be working closely with Terremark as it strengthens its presence in Europe and we look forward to continuing to extend this strategic partnership.”

Along with a robust physical infrastructure, the NAP of Amsterdam will feature diverse connectivity to hundreds of global networks through the establishment of a node by AMS-IX. With network density from all major Dutch Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and several major international ISPs, AMS-IX’s presence in the facility allows Terremark to provide customers with reduced latency and transit costs for their business-critical environments.

“As we look to expand our infrastructure to meet the growing demands of Internet traffic across Europe, world-class partners like Terremark are a key part of our strategy,” said Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX. “Based on Terremark’s history of offering industry-leading services from some of the world’s most sophisticated datacenters, we believe this partnership will greatly benefit our members as well as Terremark’s current and prospective customers.”

As Terremark prepares to open the NAP of Amsterdam, Schiphol Group’s commitment as the anchor customer underscores the Company’s ability to earn the trust of some of Europe’s largest companies and provide high-quality services, including enterprise-class cloud computing, information security and colocation. Based on the facility’s powerful combination of hardened physical infrastructure and massive network connectivity, Schiphol selected Terremark as the ideal provider of best-in-class colocation and network services to meet its needs.

”Terremark’s team in the Netherlands has a long-standing reputation for providing superior products and services to some of Europe’s most important companies,” said Maarten de Groof, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Schiphol Group. “With Terremark’s decision to extend its presence in Amsterdam and provide its suite of services from this new, state-of-the-art facility within Amsterdam Airport Schiphol area that houses more than 500 international oriented companies, we believe they are the perfect partner to entrust with our current and future IT infrastructure needs.”

Driven by continued strong demand in the European market for its set of innovative solutions, Terremark decided to launch the NAP of Amsterdam to meet this demand and establish a new hub for its European operations. The Company will directly link the new Amsterdam facility to Terremark’s worldwide networks of NAPs, providing customers with access to the Company’s global cloud computing infrastructure, additional connectivity and an advanced set of disaster recovery, data storage and information security solutions.

“The launch of our NAP of Amsterdam project comes as a result of the continued success we have enjoyed in Europe, and is a testament to the high-level of achievement our European team has experienced and the strength of our leadership team in the region,” said Manuel D. Medina, Terremark’s Chairman and CEO. “Once completed, the NAP of Amsterdam will provide our Company a highly sophisticated, top-tier datacenter facility from which to deliver our acclaimed and highly sought-after suite of services. Our ability to consistently provide European customers with reliable, world-class IT infrastructure solutions continues to be a key differentiator for our Company and this expertise has proven to be a major factor in our continued success in the region.”
