Spread Networks Sets the New Standard in Trading Latency between Chicago and New York

Ridgeland, MS – June 22, 2010 – Spread Networks, LLC, a privately owned telecommunications provider, today announced the launch of a dark fiber private network that sets a new standard in trading latency between Chicago and New York.

In development for over three years, Spread Networks offers financial firms direct access to dark fiber on a completely new route – the shortest possible route from New York to Chicago, 825 fiber miles long – reducing round-trip latency to 13.33 milliseconds.

Without the drag of traditional telecommunications offerings, Spread Networks provides its customers with a private network to achieve a ‘clean speed,’ allowing data to run as close as possible to the true speed of light through fiber.

“Spread Networks has established the competitive standard for trading latency between these two important financial centers,” said David Barksdale, CEO of Spread Networks. “Financial firms looking for increased bandwidth to move large volumes of data with maximum efficiency will turn to Spread Networks to provide them with the most efficient, private dark fiber network available today; a system that will outperform other options for speed, security, and reliability.”

Spread Networks has assembled a world-class management team and financial sponsors led by Barksdale Management. All are proven leaders in their respective areas of expertise. In addition to David Barksdale, the management team includes: Jim Barksdale, Chairman and President of Barksdale Management Corporation and former CEO of Netscape and AT&T Wireless as Chairman; Dan Spivey, former trader and market maker at CBOE as President and Founder; Murray White former Head of Strategy and Business Development for NYSE Technologies, as Executive Vice President, Market Development; W. Brennan Carley, Head of Business Operations of NYFIX and founder of Radianz, as Senior Vice President, Product Marketing; Timothy L. Goff, former VP of Customer Service at ADVA as Senior Vice President, Operations; and Michael Strickland, former Director of Network Architecture, Engineering and Deployment at Level 3 as Senior Vice President, Technology and Engineering.
