Marion, Va. – Cody Hash, 2010 graduate of Marion Senior High School and son of CenturyLink technician, Don Hash and Teresa Hash, is a recipient of a $1,000 CenturyLink scholarship.
CenturyLink received 33 applications from across the company’s mid-Atlantic region, which consists of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. Seven scholarships were awarded in the region while a total of 42 were granted nationwide. The program offers scholarships to dependents of employees, who have at least a 3.0 grade point average and are attending an accredited junior college, college or university. The 2010 scholarships are $1,000 per year, for up to 4 years. The students can retain the scholarship each year by maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
“We are happy to award these educational scholarships to the deserving sons and daughters of CenturyLink employees,” said Dean Rosenbaum, Area Plant Supervisor for CenturyLink. “Each of the winners was selected for exemplary academic accomplishments, along with outstanding involvement in community programs and activities.” added Rondi Furgason, Vice President and General Manager for CenturyLink.
Cody will be attending Highlands Community College in the fall with plans to transfer to Virginia Tech where he will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science.
