TOKYO, JAPAN – NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today the launch of Biz Desktop, a virtual desktop service offered under the company’s BizCITY® concept of providing secure, cloud-based access to enterprise services from anyplace at anytime.
Biz Desktop, which runs on the BizCITY platform, enables access to virtual PC desktop environments. Customers can securely use various BizCITY services as well as their own ICT resources via the Internet, VPN or mobile networks. For added security, data is not stored on the user’s remote PC.
The cost of the service is basically one low monthly fee per ID number or server resource. Scalability allows additional ID numbers or server resources to be added as required. Dedicated devices or servers are not required.
Customers can choose from two versions of the service – Biz Desktop Basic and Biz Desktop Pro – according to their needs and network environments.
Biz Desktop Basic provides access to virtual desktop and business applications, such as webmail and document software, via a PC or mobile device’s browser. The monthly fee is 1,260 yen per ID and the startup cost per contract is 21,000 yen.
Biz Desktop Pro provides a thin client environment with one-stop PC management for easy system administration. Virus protection and business continuity planning are supported. As a cloud-based system, the service is adaptable to specific ICT environments and greatly minimizes startup costs and lead time. The monthly fee is from 78,750 yen per server and the startup cost is from 21,000 yen in the case of 30 IDs. Business applications such as Microsoft® Office and the corporate edition of Trend Micro’s Virus Buster are optionally available. Biz Desktop also can be optionally bundled with AGILIT Thin Client or Global Virtual Office Hosting for customized or global versions, respectively.
