AboveNet Expands Metro Portfolio with Launch of Core Wave Services

(WHITE PLAINS, NY,  June  2, 2010) — AboveNet, Inc. (NYSE:ABVT, news, filings), a leading provider of high-bandwidth connectivity solutions, has expanded its Metro portfolio with the launch of Core Wave services, providing customers with a flexible, dedicated and cost-effective data transport solution.

Based on a metro ring infrastructure, Core Wave utilizes ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer) technology providing dynamic wavelength Add/Drops and inter-ring connectivity with flexible traffic routing.   This next-gen technology is scalable, with the ability to grow to 40G and 100G, preparing Enterprises for the future.

Core Wave services provide for 1Gbps and higher connectivity  between key datacenters and/or  enterprise locations within a metro area, offering the benefits of a dedicated wavelength service along with the flexibility and time-to-market advantages of a next generation core infrastructure solution.  Some of the features of Core Wave services include:
